NYC Staff Profile

Michelle - Newest staff member to GEOS Languages PLUS in New York

Michelle O’Conell, Instructor

Say Hi to Michelle!
She joined GEOS NY this past summer and specializes in teaching our high level students English in a fun and dynamic way.

Meet Michelle:
“Hi guys! A little bit about me…I was born in New Jersey but have also lived in Wisconsin, Mississippi, and Maryland. After graduating from university, I moved to China to absorb the culture, language and art, which I love. I lived there for four years teaching English. I feel that my specialty is creating a connection with my students that really helps to make a great atmosphere in class. Of course, I also love to watch my student’s progress. When I’m not teaching, you can find me walking my dog in Astoria Park or painting New York’s spectacular cityscape.”

Teacher Profile

This month we would like to introduce you to one of our teachers, Kiran. Kiran was born and raised here and is a true Vancouverite. Kiran has always had a passion for teaching and has a great deal of experience teaching in the classroom as well as volunteering for various educational organizations. Kiran gained most of her ESL teaching experience here in Vancouver, but she has also had the opportunity to work overseas in South Korea and India. Kiran started working for us in 2009, and students love her open and engaging style. Students have said that she ‘communicates clearly’ and ‘gives lots of examples’, so it’s ‘easy and fun to learn’. As someone who grew up here, Kiran welcomes the chance to introduce students to this beautiful city and help them achieve their language goals!
