Quand je suis arrivé à Montréal, j’ai commencé à étudier le français seul. Avec beaucoup de travail, j’ai appris un peu de grammaire et le vocabulaire, mais je ne pouvais pas parler français.

J’ai décidé de chercher un cours de français. J’ai visité plusieurs autres écoles mais j’aimais GEOS le plus. Les professeurs sont excellents, et il y a beaucoup d’opportunités à pratiquer le français, rencontrer autres personnes et découvrir Montréal. Il y a presque 3 mois que j’étudie à GEOS et je suis certaine que j’ai appris beaucoup et maintenant, je peux parler français avec mes amis!

TESL course in GEOS Victoria, April 30th

The GEOS Victoria TESL course will start on April 30^th. This 100-hour course aims to provide language teaching training to individuals who want to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language. The course will develop linguistic and cultural competencies in students intending to use their skills in their home country or abroad as teachers of English. The program is broken down into modules that focus on both theory as well as practice.

Trainees will learn how to prepare a lesson, and issues related to planning selection of materials to teach. They will discuss issues related to teaching specific language skills (i.e. listening and speaking, reading and writing, and grammar) and will be given an opportunity to prepare lessons and teach in front of peers. They will receive feedback from their teachers and peers and will develop an ability to assess their own teaching skills.

Trainees also have the option of completing the GEOS TESL practicum. The 20-hour practicum is the practical application of instructional skills through classroom observation, analysis, and teaching demonstration. Skills learned during this practicum will enable the trainee to be confident about teaching in a classroom with English Learners. The trainee will be ready to pace and deliver lessons for second language learners with varying language proficiencies, L1 literacy, motivations, educational backgrounds. The entire practicum takes place at the GEOS Language Academy, Victoria campus under the guidance of the Practicum Supervisor.

The GEOS Victoria TESL course is recognized by TESL Canada.

New Courses in San Francisco

Our Super- Intensive English course is 30 hours a week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:15pm. Integrated Skills class is from 9:00am-10:30am, Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm, elective class from 1:00pm-2:30pm and another elective class from 2:45pm-4:15pm.

Our Intensive English course will be 22.5 hours a week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-2:30pm. Integrated Skills class is from 9:00am-10:30am, Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm and an elective class from 1:00pm-2:30pm.

Our Semi-Intensive English course will be 15 hours per week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-12:15pm. You will have Integrated Skills class from 9:00am-10:30am and Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm.

Our elective classes this month are Pronunciation (beginner), Speaking (Int.) and Business (Advanced)

As you know GEOS has joined the Sprachcaffe Languages Plus Group and we will now be known as GEOS Languages PLUS. It’s an exciting time for us as we prepare for next year and the new opportunities this brings for us and our students.

Over the past few years, more and more students have been interested in advancing their career prospects by going to colleges and universities after they improve their English with GEOS.
We recently started a new session of our intermediate level IELTS elective course. The advanced IELTS elective class has been running all year and so it’s great for us to be able to offer it to intermediate level students now. For a challenging full-time option, the TOEFL iBT class is probably the best available in Ottawa. It’s hard work but really effective.

Intensive English – 24 academic hours –
Communicative Method of language teaching that is second to none! GEOS is the only private school in Ottawa to operate 6 levels of ESL year-round. Our morning course, called Integrated Skills (IS) allows students to develop their ability in all four skills of English (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Our afternoon program is called Active Listening (AL) and focuses on improving the practical communication skills of listening and speaking.

Super Intensive – 31 academic hours –
Many of our students choose to enhance their studies with an extra elective class (7 hours per week). Our current elective classes are:
Levels 1 & 2 – Grammar Works (Beginner)
Levels 3 & 4 – Grammar Works (Intermediate) or IELTS Preparation (Intermediate)
Levels 5 & 6 – IELTS Preparation (Advanced)

TOEFL iBT Preparation Program (Advanced) – 24 academic hours
GEOS Ottawa is the perfect choice for the more serious student who is thinking about applying for university in Canada. Our very popular TOEFL iBT program prepares students in all aspects of the test to significantly increase their chances of passing.

Private Instruction / Closed groups
In addition to our regular scheduled group classes we also offer private and small group lessons in English and French with flexible schedules and class content to suit the needs of the student.

Upcoming Courses in Montreal

The French Beginner starting dates for 2012 are: January 9, February 6, March 5, April 2, May 28, June 25, July 23, August 20, September 17, October 15, November 12 and December 10, 2012.
Japanese Beginner starting dates for 2012 are the following: January 30th, March 12th, June 4th, August 6th, September 24th.
Our Elective Classes for the New Year are the following: TOEFL & IELTS preparation classes, Writing (I, II & III) and a NEW Elective Class Listening & Pronunciation. We also offer seasonal study tours/holiday group courses that students can join individually for one or two weeks. Furthermore you can send your own group.
