Sunday May 20th, Bay to Breakers Race!
Take part in a San Francisco tradition, by dressing up in costume for the 101st annual Bay to Breakers. The race is one of the largest and most unique running events in the world. The city streets turn into a giant party! Begin at 7:00AM at the Embarcadero and follow the race course to Golden Gate Park. Or, a good view point is Alamo Square, to watch the racers go by.
Meet Kristin 
Foss! Kristin is originally from New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Secondary English Education. Before joining GEOS San Francisco as our new Academic Coordinator, Kristin worked at GEOS New York as a teacher. She has also taught English abroad in Chile. Kristin’s favorite San Francisco neighborhood is the Mission and in her free time she likes to go hiking. She would also like to learn how to play the banjo. Please say hi to Kristin! J
Our Super- Intensive English course is 30 hours a week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-4:15pm. Integrated Skills class is from 9:00am-10:30am, Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm, elective class from 1:00pm-
2:30pm and another elective class from 2:45pm-4:15pm.
Our Intensive English course will be 22.5 hours a week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-2:30pm. Integrated Skills class is from 9:00am-10:30am, Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm and an elective class from 1:00pm-2:30pm.
Our Semi-Intensive English course will be 15 hours per week. Classes are Monday through Friday from 9:00am-12:15pm. You will have Integrated Skills class from 9:00am-10:30am and Active Listening class from 10:45am-12:15pm.
Our elective classes this month are Pronunciation (beginner), Speaking (Int.) and Business (Advanced)
Today (Sunday, March 18th) at 2:30PM in San Francisco is the 14th annual Brides of March celebration!
Wear a wedding dress and join the brides for a day of fun! Cheap wedding dresses can be purchased at second-hand stores like Goodwill. A group of people in bride costumes will stroll through Union Square, go shopping, and visit local bars. You must be age 21 to enter a bar. The brides will meet at Tunnel Top Bar, 601 Bush Street. This is a truly silly San Francisco activity!

Over the past few years, more and more students have been interested in advancing their career prospects by going to colleges and universities after they improve their English with GEOS.
We recently started a new session of our intermediate level IELTS elective course. The advanced IELTS elective class has been running all year and so it’s great for us to be able to offer it to intermediate level students now. For a challenging full-time option, the TOEFL iBT class is probably the best available in Ottawa. It’s hard work but really effective.
Intensive English – 24 academic hours –
Communicative Method of language teaching that is second to none! GEOS is the only private school in Ottawa to operate 6 levels of ESL year-round. Our morning course, called Integrated Skills (IS) allows students to develop their ability in all four skills of English (reading, writing, listening and speaking). Our afternoon program is called Active Listening (AL) and focuses on improving the practical communication skills of listening and speaking.
Super Intensive – 31 academic hours –
Many of our students choose to enhance their studies with an extra elective class (7 hours per week). Our current elective classes are:
Levels 1 & 2 – Grammar Works (Beginner)
Levels 3 & 4 – Grammar Works (Intermediate) or IELTS Preparation (Intermediate)
Levels 5 & 6 – IELTS Preparation (Advanced)
TOEFL iBT Preparation Program (Advanced) – 24 academic hours

Private Instruction / Closed groups
In addition to our regular scheduled group classes we also offer private and small group lessons in English and French with flexible schedules and class content to suit the needs of the student.
The 19th Giants Fan Fest takes place at AT&T Park, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 from 11am-3pm. The day includes live KNBR broadcasts on the field, player Q&A, free player autographs and places to take photos, a kid’s zone and more.
California Academy of Sciences Free Admission Day, February 5th, 2012. The Academy is changing its free day policy. Starting in February, the Academy’s monthly Free Wednesday will be replaced with a quarterly Free Sunday. Admission to the Academy is on a first-come, first-served basis, and early arrival is recommended. Final entry to the museum on free days is 4 pm.
Chinese New Year Parade, February 11th, 2012 Named one of the world’s top ten parades, the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco is the largest celebration of its kind outside of Asia. The parade starts on Market, goes up Geary, down Post and ends on Kearny at Columbus. Parade highlights include elaborate floats, lion dancers, folk dancers, marching bands, stilt walkers, Chinese acrobats, and a 250 foot long Golden dragon that takes a team of over 100 men and women to carry.
