Toronto Student Testimonial
Hi!
I’m Bader from Makkah Saudi Arabia. I came to Toronto to improve English and apply for a university to study biomedical science. I have been studying in GEOS since October.
I enjoyed all the moments here by sharing cultures and traditions. The teachers are very intelligent and kind. They always help us to improve our skills individually which help me to improve faster. I really enjoyed this experience with GEOS.
Easy English News
The best way to learn a language is to spend some time abroad. Going abroad to study is good because you do not hear much of your native language, you have to learn how to react fast, and if you manage to avoid living with people from the same country as you are, you can learn a lot.
However, when you come back, it is necessary to keep practicing what you learnt. Otherwise you’ll start losing your knowledge. One of the best ways is to read and listen to English news.
So after completing your language courses abroad, you can visit www.newsinlevels.com to stay up to date and keep on practicing your English skills. They specialize in writing texts for students of English.
Ottawa Staff Changes
This month we have to say goodbye to Janaya, our very popular accommodations officer. She has been with us since 2009, helping to develop our activity and Homestay program. Now Janaya is going to further her ESL career by going to teach in South Korea. We wish her all the best and look forward to seeing lots of pictures from her travels.
We are very happy to announce that Kaori Takase is taking over as our Student Services / Accommodations Coordinator. Kaori worked for GEOS Calgary for 3 years before transferring to Ottawa. We’re happy she is bringing all her experience of supporting international students to GEOS Ottawa. Welcome aboard Kaori.
Activities in Los Angeles
There are always so many fun activities in Los Angeles to participate in. This month we will be continuing to plan many fun activities for our students including movies, ice skating, and of course learning about Valentine’s Day and making valentines. We will also have our regular weekly Coffee Talks and Movie Talks as well. It’s so fun to get together for coffee, treats, and movies every week to practice speaking English with new friends!
Greetings from Victoria!
Greetings from Victoria!
Students and citizens alike have been embracing the chilly nights of winter, with outdoor skating, symphonies and the annual Victoria Whiskey Festival.
Winter coats were briefly brought out for our two day snow stint. Other than that brief spell of winter; the mild weather proves to be a constant, and allows us to enjoy outdoor activities all year long! January was a month of concerts, with many different types of music, from ballet to world music to rock and roll!
